    James has worked in recruitment for over ten years, specialising in the M&E recruitment spacefor the majority of his career. Having recruited on some of the biggest projects in the UK, he has always had a passion for building relationships and sourcing top talent on a multitude of recruitment campaigns. James is now heading up the Design and Build division for Datacentre People and is excited to be hunting out the best construction datacenter talent globally. 

    Born and bred in Middlesex, James has now moved out to the Essex countryside where he lives with his young family. During his spare time James loves watching Chelsea and playing football every Sunday morning. Steve is pleased that there is another Chelsea supporter on the team as he was outnumbered by the Spurs fans in the office!

    The Client

    Datacenter People has been instructed by a technically led, global real estate services company that has a focus on project delivery in critical environments.

    What The Job Involves 

    • Perform design reviews of systems. 
    • Develop, oversee and write startup and commissioning policies and procedures. 
    • QA/QC of the equipment installation. 
    • Perform construction observations and develop functional test plans. 
    • Execute tests for a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems and to ensure testing is performed in conformance with standards and procedures. 
    • Assist in training of plant operations and maintenance personnel. 
    • Act as liaison with vendors and subcontractors regarding problem resolution and perform testing as required. 
    • Review and analyze data and prepare technical reports. 
    • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors and other project team members. 
    • Work with others to manage small to mid-size projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule. 

    We’re Looking for Someone With

    • 7 years of industry experience in either electrical power distribution or mechanical systems or both. AA degree, military training or equivalent work experience. 
    • Experience in diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems. 
    • Be organised; possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Experience with MS word and excel is a must. 
    • Must have the ability to work in a high stress environment, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. 
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others. 
    • Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards. 
    • Working knowledge of AutoCAD. 
    • Must have or be able to obtain a passport 
    • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Commissioning Engineer. 
    • Five (5) years of experience in the commissioning field including performance contracting requirements. 
    • Must be proficient in BCA, PECI and/or ASHRAE commissioning procedures.  
    • Hospital, biotech, data center, and energy analysis experience is preferred.

    What The Job Involves 

    • Develop and prepare technical performance specifications, designs,
    • drawings, equipment schedules and reports.
    • Decide on an approach to fulfilling the customer needs as appropriate.
    • Undertake discrimination, selectivity and cable selection.
    • Design and selection of electrical components and systems for various
    • projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client
    • requirements.
    • Creatively develop performance, quality, tendering and Client documents
    • Developing cost plans and timelines.
    • Carry out tender analysis.
    • Issue and review technical RFI's and design submittals.
    • Carry out auditing of site infrastructure and hardware, SPoF analysis,
    • provide a detailed and comprehensive set of recommendations, condition
    • reports and cost plans.
    • Identifying and addressing problems.
    • Develop concept designs.
    • Witness and supervise commissioning and acceptance tests (IST).
    • Staying up to date with international industry trends.
    • Conducting research and applying new knowledge.
    • Designing processes and systems.
    • Implementing solutions and designs.
    • Training other engineering personnel.
    • European travel as and when required.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

    • Bachelor's degree in an electrical engineering field or undertaken an
    • Electrical Design served apprenticeship.
    • Developed and prepared designs, client briefs and performance-related
    • documentation.
    • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems.
    • Working knowledge of electrical power components and their operation
    • and configuration.
    • Working knowledge of LV Electrical circuit arrangements, calculation and
    • selection of protection systems, cables and distribution.
    • Drafting capabilities, hand-drawn and CAD.

    Datacenter People is working with a global data center services provider delivering project management, engineering design and critical facility management to hyperscale, colocation, and edge leaders.

    What The Job Involves 

    • Carry out the role of a Lead/Senior CxA (Commissioning Agent) / CxM (Commissioning manager) on mission critical projects, to include duties such as – Chairing meetings / leading technical workshops / Managing Mechanical IRL’s on projects
    • Script development and review.
    • Cx script sign off and approval.
    • Design Review.
    • RCA (Root cause analysis) / Problem solving and trouble shooting.
    • Travel with the EU & UK.
    • Any other duties as deemed necessary.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

    • Mechanical Engineer degree level 8 or higher.
    • Working mechanical knowledge of Chilled Water, HVAC & BMS Systems.
    • Extensive background as a Commissioning Agent/Manager within the Data Center industry.
    • Fluency in written & spoken English.
