    The Client

    Datacenter People is partnering with a European specialist data center operator that delivers services through a campus model. Today they own and operate 22 data centers across France, Italy, Spain, Poland and Luxembourg.

    What The Job Involves 

    • Lead the design and development of conceptual and detailed controls systems for new and existing data centers.
    • Analyse power and cooling requirements to optimise efficiency, reliability, and sustainability through integrated controls strategies.
    • Select and specify controls equipment and software based on industry best practices, project requirements, and interoperability considerations.
    • Ensure controls system design seamlessly integrates with other systems (electrical, mechanical, IT) through close collaboration with relevant teams.
    • Oversee the commissioning process for new and upgraded controls systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
    • Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
    • Identify and resolve controls commissioning issues efficiently to maintain project progress.
    • Technical Expertise and Representation:
    • Stay at the forefront of the latest trends and technologies in data center mechanical design and operation.
    • Serve as the company’s internal expert on all mechanical aspects of data centers.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders across various departments.
    • Represent the company in external project meetings, discussions, and negotiations with vendors and consultants.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring transparency and understanding.
    • Manage and maintain technical documentation related to data center mechanical systems.
    • Identify opportunities for improvement in data center mechanical systems and processes.
    • Lead the implementation of new technologies and best practices to enhance reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
    • Analyse data and performance metrics to identify areas for optimisation.

    We’re Looking for Someone With

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum of 7+ years' of experience in data center design and construction or equivalent experience in critical infrastructure.
    • Proven track record of success in leading and executing complex mechanical engineering projects.
    • English: fluent
    • Experience on Mechanical Systems and discipline (HVAC, CFDs, Boilers, Chillers, Pumps, CRAC / CRAH Units, Air Handling Units, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of data center thermal management, power distribution, and fire suppression systems.
    • Experience with commissioning and startup of data center mechanical systems.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent.
    • LEED AP certification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
    • Experience with data center infrastructure management software (DCIM) focusing on electrical systems.
    • Experience with project management methodologies and best practices.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

      What The Job Involves 

      • DIMS: Respect and enforce the certification policy and be proactive in improving the Integrated Management System (IMS) with stakeholders. 
      • H&S: Respect and enforce health and safety rules. 
      • Environment: Respect and enforce environmental policies. 
      • Information security: Respect and enforce information security policies. 
      • Energy: Respect and enforce the policy of energy management policy. 
      • Hires and inducts the right team of DC Infrastructure Lead, Energy Manager, Operational Quality Manager, DC Operations Contract Manager. 
      • Develops people, owns training programs, manages performance, and ensures succession planning. 
      • Defines performance targets and implements improvement plans with France Country Director to address performance issues. 
      • Issues periodic operational performance reports, and ensures operational standards align with the business and industry best practices. 
      • Drives continuous improvement and lessons learned, manages risks within own scope  
      • Manages COGS and CAPEX budgets, accountable for budget early warnings.

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • 10+ years' experience in similar position or in mission-critical operation, with background in incident management and resolution.  
      • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Energy Engineering or equivalent experience. 
      • Fluent English (B2/C1). 
      • Experience in people management.
      • Experience with complex systems. 
      • Experience with change management and facility management. 
      • Experience with incident management, incident resolution and learning from errors.  
      • Agile with IT tools – knowledge of ticketing tools such as JIRA, Proxima or Remedy. 
      • KPI and metrics management and analysis.
      • Experience in managing people’s managers. 
      • Familiar with customer success management in Data Centers. 
      • Effective communication – emails, phone and face to face.
