    The Client

    Datacenter People has been instructed by a global player and the leading European cloud provider operating over 450,000 servers within 34 data centers across 4 continents to reach 1.6 million customers in over 140 countries.
     
    What the Job Involves

    • Contribute to datacenter systems architecture, as the first level of support (L1). 
    • Optimise bays for new servers.
    • Wire the incoming cables and network of servers within a bay, respecting the wiring scheme.
    • Install servers as required by the Team Leaders and in accordance with the operational plan. 
    • Assemble and install computer hardware (assemble/install/ upgrade/update computers).
    • Follow safety rules and regulatory requirements. 
    • Assemble industry equipment and water-piping equipment related to the operations of the server racks. 
    • Call in an L2 technician if needed.
    • Contribute to datacenter maintenance, as the first level of support (L1). 
    • Intervene on the servers in response to monitoring alerts or customer tickets. 
    • Upgrade the servers (change obsolete components) according to the list of work to be carried out. 
    • Undertake curative maintenance on delivered servers. 
    • Identify intervention stages using diagnostic information. 
    • Apply maintenance procedures. 
    • Update wiring systems. 
    • Restructure computer bays. 
    • Implement actions to resolve problems related to the server environment. 
    • Ensure computers are functioning properly via analysis and monitoring. 
    • Set up specifications and maintain databases (server, components and other). 
    • Manage and resolve system failures quickly and well.
    • Maintain and perform minor repair on industry equipment and water-piping equipment. related to the operations of the server racks. 
    • Call in an L2 technician and escalate incident tickets to L2 support if needed. 
    • Ensure material process flows are compiled according to set processes in place. 
    • Provide inventory support to manage stock levels to support the datacenter operations. 
    • Able to work in shift timings to support the data center operations. 
    • Coordinate activity with all 24/7 teams and help improve customer relations. 
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department, meeting the requirements set out in the quality management system. 
    • Help maintain good customer relations and customer satisfaction on a daily basis. 
    • Ensure information is shared between maintenance agents and provide reports to the Team Leader. 
    • Respect the schedule and targets set by the Team Leader. 
    • Be customer centric and meet KPIs set to meet customer demand.
    • Highlight any potential delays early and identify mitigation plans with support of external teams working 24/7, in order to meet customer demand on time. 
    • Draft end of shift report and effectively communicate progress & delays to stakeholders on a daily basis. 

    We’re Looking for Someone With

    • Knowledge of physical data center infrastructure. 
    • Understanding of Company's products desirable but not essential. 
    • Ability to follow and document internal procedures. 
    • Advanced sense of service. 
    • Good communication skills within a team. 
    • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office. 
    • Able to draft reports to communicate progress and highlight delays. 
    • Forklift driving experience would be desirable but not necessary. 
    • Organised, autonomous and adaptable.

      • A good basic education is essential, with qualifications in Maths and English or equivalent.
      • Fluent in German, English.
      • Higher educational qualifications to degree would be beneficial or equivalent.
      • Good PC based skills, with experience in Word/Excel and Outlook – intermediate to advance level, desirable skills in PowerPoint and Access.
      • 3 years’ experience in a similar support role.
      • Previous experience of a customer-facing role using ERP systems such as Oracle.
      • Some financial / accounting experience would be an advantage.

      Datacenter People is partnering with an investment and advisory practice specialising in Power, Energy and Digital Infrastructures across Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and Central/South America.

      What The Job Involves 

      • Review and assessment of both DSO and TSO electricity grids across Europe to identify optimal connection opportunities (mostly demand focused).
      • Advise on appropriate grid connections based on end Client requirements.
      • Make grid applications and manage the grid connection process on behalf of clients from application stage through to energisation.
      • Advise on DSO and TSO tariff structures in European markets. Advise on electricity prices including negotiation of PPAs.
      • Production of RIBA Workstage 2 substation design packages which shall include integration with identified temporary power opportunities.
      • Technical and commercial input to development (Data Centre and Energy Centre) master planning, including generation, storage, and site wide energy distribution considerations.
      • Tender for delivery of substation infrastructures. Review and recommend preferred bidders to end Client based on technical and/or commercial tender return assessment.
      • Review of substation delivery partners designs in accordance with RIBA Workstage 2.
      • Complete power strategy reviews for clients depending on their DC requirements (based on country, voltage level, required dates, revenue mechanisms, end customer requirements).
      • Design reviews against Hyperscaler specifications and sustainability and ESG targets.
      • Client and workload management to anticipate bottlenecks and manage internal and external risks.  

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university or college.
      • Minimum 7 years of experience in Electrical design and/or construction required.
      • Knowledge of UK/EU substation design practices/principles.
      • Experience of running tenders for HV Substations including scoring and review of tender returns (Technical and Commercial).
      • Experience of management and technical review of HV delivery contractors during the design (RIBA stages 3/4) and delivery (RIBA stages 5/6/7) project phases.
      • Knowledge of HV Substation Testing and Commissioning.
      • Strong working knowledge of HV distribution systems and alternative power generation technologies.
      • Technical report writing.
      • Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, BIM.
      • Awareness and Experience of Generation (engine and or turbine) selection and delivery Project Management.
      • Contracts management (FIDIC and NEC as a minimum).
